I am currently a mentor for an amazing organization called tnAchieves. If you do not know about this beautiful organization, you should! read their mission statement below. It say’s it all . . .

The mission of tnAchieves is to increase higher education opportunities for Tennessee students by providing last dollar scholarships with mentor guidance.

College and it’s costs can be a little overwhelming. tnAchieves helps off set the cost of starting your higher education! Please ask your local guidance counselor how you can be a part of tnAchieves. When I was 17! a senior portrait photographer reflects

Shooting senior portraits is a gift! I get to hang out with sweet, compassionate, smart, funny young people that are going to take this world by storm! Today as I was tying up some last minute orders it got me thinking about when I was seventeen years old, way back in 1995. Want to know about the 17 year old me and now the 33 year old me. It’s a THEN & NOW post!

Here are a couple things to get you started . . .

the boys I loved then: eddie vedder, derek jeter and river phoenix [yes, it's Joaquin's brother]

the boys I love now: my husband and son!

the clothes I loved then: pretty much any surf/skate companies. cut off jeans, converse. the picture below is pretty much what we all looked like, geeeeesh that is rough!

Have you checked out the site Pick your Plum yet? Oh my goodness, I love that site. It’s a deal site of sorts but has the most unique funky fun things. One of my clients told me about it and no I am officially addicted!

Zooey Deschanel style New Girl

I am not alone in saying that the show New Girl on Fox has grown to be one of my very favorites. It is adorable, super smart, funny and kinda of irresistible. I am glad that my best friend and I aren’t the only people on the planet that sing everything. Two years ago we were told by another good friend that being around us is like going to a musical. Also a few years ago my dear children and super sweet husband begged me to stop singing songs that relate to what they are talking about. It’s a problem sometimes and yes I would venture to guess a tad bit annoying. But it makes me laugh to watch New Girl and here Zooey Deschanel sing at obscure times. I can relate!

Not only is the show witty. Zooey’s wardrobe is oh’ so vintage, funky, cute.

I think many of the items she wears would look so amazing in a senior portrait shoot!
